Brief

Our research team conducted contextual research on the ideal experience of sleep in collaboration with leading Lextant, a human-centered research consultancy based in the USA. We focused on rising sleeping concerns among people by conducting a variety of research methods such as Lextant's sensory que, cultural probes, field interviews, and observations. We come up with a framework that illustrates what the ideal experience of sleep feels like.

Solution

User Story

As a software developer who works from home, I spend more than 14 hours a day on my computer. My day starts with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, which is my constant companion as I navigate through lines of code. Being an active social media follower, I take short breaks to catch up on the latest trends and updates from my network. These breaks also serve as my 'smoke breaks', a habit I'm trying to quit but find solace in during intense coding sessions. Despite my love for coding and the satisfaction it brings, it has taken a toll on my sleep. The long hours in front of the screen often lead to late nights and disrupted sleep patterns. This has made me realize the importance of a balanced lifestyle and I am actively looking for ways to improve my work-life balance and ensure better sleep.

Problem Definition

The constant exposure to technology have provided millennials with unprecedented access to information and a platform for global communication. However, this constant connectivity also comes with its own set of challenges. The digital world can often blur the lines between personal and professional life, leading to stress and anxiety. The pressure to be constantly available and responsive has been leading to feelings of being overwhelmed.
